Chief Executive Group has set the agenda for America’s business leaders since 1977 and is now seeking a motivated and experienced digital editor to lead the development and delivery of digital content for chiefexexutive.net and boardmember.com. We’re experiencing dramatic growth (we’ve been named by Inc. 500 as one of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies), and seek an entrepreneurial editorial leader with a strong digital skillset who can contribute to our ongoing success.
This is an outstanding opportunity to champion and implement the online strategy for our websites aimed at reaching and inspiring CEOs and board members. A typical day might include writing copy for an online feature, assigning story ideas to freelance writers, and working with the publisher on sponsored content for our audience-specific e-newsletters.
Note: position is in-office at our Stamford, CT headquarters.
The Digital Editor has responsibility for:
Identifying critical ideas and issues that affect corporate executives and setting the online agenda accordingly; this includes identifying and reporting on emerging trends in management techniques and strategy, technology, talent development, legislation and global business trends that affect decision makers.
Building a dedicated digital audience for ChiefExecutive.net and BoardMember.com, including featuring stories with unique coverage angles for broader current events, and utilizing traffic metrics to drive targeted, relevant digital content
Creating, editing and managing the production of digital content, including websites, webinars, videos and infographics, etc.
Partnering with the marketing team to creatively and proactively engage consumers across our social media platforms.
Building a strong partnerships with contributing writers, including negotiating contracts and fees, and ensuring that all assignments are delivered on time and to specification.
Ensuring the timely release of all e-newsletters, including writing and editing content and ensuring delivery.
Collaborating with key advertisers and the marketing team to develop content marketing offers that drive conversions.
The Digital Editor will have a passion for applying their editorial knowledge to a digital platform, as well as a keen interest in using social media to help drive reader engagement. It is critical that the Editor has a keen eye for writing and analysis that helps company executives do their jobs better and make their businesses more productive.
Specific qualifications for the Digital Editor role include:
Demonstrated experience in a web/interactive producer or digital editor role with direct responsibility for leading and implementing digital strategy
Strong writing experience, coupled with experience (either personal or professional) with social media platforms (including strong knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn).
Experience formatting and producing stories for a range of responsive-design digital outlets, from websites to mobile
Interest in website design, including identifying new and unique digital and social media strategies and tools
Relevant experience hiring, managing and directing the activities of freelance and contributing writers
Working knowledge of site analytics
